The HTC 5800 features Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Standard and offers mobile access to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Mobile applications. This compact smartphone is similar to the S710, but for CDMA networks. The unique design combines a traditional bar form factor and phone keypad with a slide-out text keyboard. Key features include EVDO high-speed data upgradeable to Rev. A, 2 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, large QVGA display, and a memory card slot.

The display area is a solid QVGA setup, with an ample viewing window. The camera function is easy to operate and does not require a lot of expertise to take excellent shots. Bluetooth capability allows the 5800 to provide a lot of the common functions that may people expect from a basic handheld device, such as messaging. While the loaded memory is only adequate, there is a memory card slot that helps to expand the usability of the unit.

When it comes to making a call, the 5800 provides some of the clearest connections possible with a wireless device. The clarity of the signals makes it easy to hear and to be heard. Thus far, it appears that the HTC 5800 is also quite good at maintaining a signal, with lesser incidence of dropped calls. While there is no touch screen included with the 5800, the keyboards make navigation very easy.
