Review (updated 11 June 2002)
The Motorola V70 is a radically different looking
phone. In fact it's quite stunning. It's unique
revolving design, light-on-dark display and
luminescent keypad will certainly turn heads!
Features of the Motorola V70 include:
WAP (over GPRS)
Light-on-dark display (96x64 pixels / 3 lines of text)
Available in a range of colours
Predictive text messaging
64 ringtones (32 preset + 32 customisable)
Voice activated dialing
Phone book (155 names)
Caller identification
Integrated headset jack
Data capability
Games
Clock, calendar, alarm
Currency converter, calculator
The Motorola V70 is certainly beautiful and is in
a league of its own as a fashion accessory, but
what is it like as a phone? On the plus side, it's
super-compact and lightweight, and feels good
in the palm. It's surprisingly practical, with well
thought out details making it much more
user-friendly than previous Motorola phones -
more like a Nokia in terms of buttons and menus.
On the negative side, the screen is a little small,
and we'd perhaps expect more features for the
price. Still, we like the phone a lot, and if you
check out the retailer listed at the top of this
page, you should be able to find a good price -
just don't expect it to be cheap!
Overall, Motorola should be congratulated for
daring to be radical, and we look forward to
more ground-breaking designs from Motorola in
the future.
