In line with the strategy of offering more mid-range Windows Mobile devices that appeal to a wider audience at a lower price point, i-mate announced the previously leaked i-mate JAQ3 during the GITEX 2006 in Dubai. The JAQ3, which is based on a TechFaith Wireless reference design, is a dedicated messaging phone that boasts the many familiar applications of Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC.
Designed with user preferences in mind, its full QWERTY keyboard, five navigation buttons and scroll wheel allow for easy navigation and use of services including E-Mail, the JAQ3 definitely competes with the Palm Treo 750. Furthermore, the landscape 2.4" colored touch screen supports the use of the stylus as an increasingly popular means of accessing and writing E-Mail and messages.
Running on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone Edition, the JAQ3 sports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth and WiFi 802.11 b/g with 64 MB RAM and 128 MB ROM. On the back, the devices features a 2.0 megapixel camera.
As the other i-mate devices in the portfolio, the i-mate JAQ3 enjoys the benefits of Window Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC including Windows Mobile Direct Push E-Mail, Hotmail and MSN Messenger access, Microsoft Office Mobile, Windows Media Player Mobile and Internet Explorer Mobile. The phone also enjoys the Club i-mate value added services and customer support. |
