Verizon Wireless announced its new tri-mode VX2000 (LG Mobile Phones). The new model runs on Verizon's Express Network (CDMA 1xRTT), offering data speeds up to 144K bit/sec (burst rate). To access the Express Network, the phone needs to be connected to a laptop via a mobile connectivity kit.

Verizon Wireless says the VX2000 weighs as much as "a Butterfinger candy bar," at about 3.98 oz. It features different changeable face plates that includes red, orange, green, blue and purple. Other features include a two-way speakerphone, voice-activated dialing, and Global Positioning Service (GPS) tracking (where available).

The phone offers up to 3.2 hours of talk time, and standby time of up to five days. Other features include voice recording, one-touch voice mail access, dual languages (English and Spanish) and TTY/TDD capabilities. The phone costs $69.99 with a 2-year service contract.
