The nokia E90 communicator is the latest addition to the communicator line started by Nokia almost 10 years ago, but unlike its predecessors, it has the type of features that are both fun and practical. It is equipped with a 3.0 mega pixel camera with autofocus lens and VGA video recording, full GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, good multimedia and the latest versions of the Symbian OS (9.2) and Series 60 3rd edition Feature Pack 1.

The camera in the E90 is impressive in both still photos and videos, which it can shoot at VGA resolution at 30 frps, and is better than most camera phones available in the market today. The camera can take still images up to 2048 x 1536 resolution and it has digital zoom. A variety of image settings allow you to tweak photos including color effects, white balance and light sensitivity .The camera and camcorder can save photos and videos directly to a micro SD card and there are self-timer and sequence mode for images.

Available in two colours, mocha and red, the E90, when open, has two faces. One of these faces has the 5 ” screen which has a resolution of 800 x 352, and displays 16 million colours, providing a very bright, sharp and clear image. This is not a touch screen, which makes it easy to view outdoors.

The other face has the standard QWERTY keyboard with additional keys to support the phone’s functions, such as separate keys to launch contacts, messaging, web, calendar, notes, desk, the assignable My Own key and the Nokia programs launcher. There's a second assignable key on the keyboard just above the tab key.

The keyboard, however, has certain drawbacks. The keys are a little stiff and have very little space between them. It is only wide enough for two finger typing, although the keys do have good traction, and it has very standard layout.

When the E90 is closed, it acts as a normal phone. The screen on the outside also displays 16 million colors, and the user can run all the programs without having to open the phone. Other features include FM radio, a music player, voice recorder and a memory of 128mb with an expansion slot, and also come with a Bluetooth stereo.

The nokia E90 has a very good battery life. On an average, the battery will last for around three days without having to be charged, which is very good battery life for a smart phone. This will obviously vary from user to user and the amount of time they use it.

The E90 has an auto-scan feature that helps in locating WiFi access points, and can be turned off as well in order to save battery life and to prevent unwanted notifications. The Bluetooth shows no difficulty in transferring files to and from Windows and Mac machines.
