When you read review or look at advertisements for the iPhone, it seems like this might be the device that the world was waiting for. However, on a practical level, there are some issues that could make or break the iPhone. For starters, it is quite large in size. Its thickness is not an issue but the length and width is definitely something to be reckoned with. Fitting it comfortably in the pocket is quite a feat and handling it with a single hand is even a bigger feat. For women, this is not an issue since they carry a purse. But for men, who don’t carry a hand-bag, this is a serious problem. Another problem that overshadows the previous one is that there is no 3G internet connectivity. Although this phone is marketed as the breakthrough internet device, offering no 3G connection is a big blunder. Since it supports the lower-speed EDGE system, the speed is not sufficient to market its strength in downloading audio and video. Since the iphone is a cell phone first and foremost, one cannot ignore the importance of sound quality. Cell phone makers have made cell phones with varying sound qualities and it would be worth seeing whether the designers at apple considered sound quality as a major parameter in designing the iPhone. The integrated non-removable battery (characteristic to iPods as well) is also a major source of contention among users as they believe that there is no reason why apple should not include user-serviceable batteries. The camera is only 2.0 MP- which not that great considering other cell phones in the market that offer a minimum of 3.2 MP and go up to 5 MP too. Another major problem is that the battery life is not what people were expecting as it lasts for just about 6 hours of talk-time. Comparing with the average iPods that have been released, the iPhone memory lacks quite a bit. 8GB dynamic is very less as most people will not be able to hold all the required media files in the iPhone. But the story is not all bad. There is a lot of stuff in the iPhone that may guarantee its success among the public. Firstly, it comes with three integrated sensors that make this the most self-aware phone in the market. Plus, the design of the iPhone is unlike any other device in the market; and this is probably its strongest selling point. Using email is made so simple and fun in the iPhonewhen compared to the push email of other devices like the Blackberry and other Nokia PDAs. In addition to the email being simple, the phone is highly interactive n the whole. User input is governed by logic and it doesn’t take a long time to get yourself acquainted to this cell phone.
